Click here for dates and times for these events (*PDF) Awards night, held annually in April at L'Affaire in Mountainside, is an evening shared by the community, members, staff and families to recognize the achievements of people involved in improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities and youth involved in New Jersey's child welfare system. Hors d'oeuvres are served and a cash bar is available. Tickets to the event are moderately priced. Attended by over 350 people.
This event is a time for fun on the links while raising funds. The day includes breakfast, use of clubhouse facilities, golf carts and a cocktail reception. An auction and raffle is held at the cocktail reception. Opportunities are available for individual players and foursomes, sponsorships and auction item and goody bag donations. A great, fun-filled day.
The CAU Community Players was created in 2011 to provide children, teens, and adults with special needs a creative and fun drama experience that promotes personal growth while breaking down stereotypes related to disabilities. Members of CAU have joined forces with people in their community to spotlight their talents on-stage in this first-ever performance in Union County. Seussical Jr. is sure to be a big hit! Hope you can join us!! This annual event, held at the end of June at the Community Access Institute in Elizabeth, celebrates the accomplishments of people with developmental disabilities who are members in CAU Programs. Individuals who have made significant strides in independent living are awarded Certificates of Achievement. Recent achievements have included traveling alone overseas, maintaining long-term employment and proactively adopting a more healthy lifestyle. Attended by over 100 people each year. Youth Achievement Night, also held in late June at the Community Access Institute in Elizabeth, is an annual event for youth involved in New Jersey's child welfare system who are members of CAU programs. Youth are recognized on achievements such as educational attainment, maintaining employment and engaging in advocacy efforts. Provider agencies are also recognized. Attended by approximately 100 people. Held in late September/early October at Rahway River Park in Rahway, this event involves community groups, members, staff and families. The day includes goody bags, a DJ and a BBQ. Opportunities are available for sponsorships, walk teams, food and goody bag donations. Volunteers are welcome to help with set-up, cooking and clean-up. An all around good time!
Held in late October at L'Affaire in Mountainside, this annual semi-formal event is a major fundraiser and always a highlight of the year. The evening includes hors d'oeuvres, a surf and turf dinner, a live band, dancing, awards and a cash bar. Individual tickets, tables, sponsorships and ads in our ad journal are available. Attended by over 500 people. An event not to be missed!
