What is the Hope Chest?
Project Hope Chest will enable the youth to live more independently and be given a Hope Chest to start a bright future on their own. The Hope Chest is aimed at enabling youth involved with CAU to set up their own households once they have graduated from supervised residential programs. The Hope Chest will consist of household items such as sheets, towels, pots/pans and much more. All of the donated items will assist the people transitioning to live more independent lives in the community. Monetary or product donations will be giving people just starting out in establishing households an important first step up on the road to self-sufficient living in the community.
What can you do?
John, an eighteen-year-old, has had 14 out of home placements and his family is the Community Access Unlimited staff. His belongings have been shuffled around with him his whole life. The transition from adolescence to adulthood is a difficult journey without having to deal with the stresses of not having a family support system. What can you do to help one youth member of Community Access Unlimited?
You can provide a laundry basket filled with household items for one youth member to move successfully into their own apartment with the necessities to live independently.
