Respite Services provide short-term comfort and care to individuals with disabilities in situations where a caregiver needs relief or has need to be absent for a short-period of time due to a trip or medical emergency.
This DDD approved, fee-for-service program offers in-home or out-of-home support services for adults and youth with developmental disabilities. Respite services are available for purchase through the Supports Program through the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Care may be delivered in multiple periods of duration such as a partial hour, hourly, daily without overnight or daily with overnight.
Respite services are provided by trained staff who receive additional specialized training. This knowledge allows them to quickly assess how they can best provide care to individuals who receive CAU respite services.
Throughout their stay, member’s receiving care that is tailored to the needs of the individual and their interests and may include:
- Assistance at Medical Appointments
- Food Shopping/Errand assistance
