Community Inclusion Services

As one of CAU’s core beliefs, Community Inclusion is important for individuals who are looking to enrich their daily life with education, recreation, or community-based activities.

CAU is committed to support members in the community and encourage members to participate in as many activities as possible. Whether it’s vacation, trips shopping, working out at a gym, getting involved at a local community center or YMCA, or attending a daily recreation event,  through Community Inclusion Services, individuals supported by CAU gain the respect and appreciation as valuable members of their community.  Inclusion in the community provides members the opportunities to connect with people and build meaningful relationships.

CAU offers the following community inclusion opportunities:

Overnight Trips
CAU offers approximately 10 overnight trips per year. Travel is open to CAU members, staff and people in the community.  Trips are staffed and a pre-vacation meeting is held for each trip to review all important travel information, itineraries, and packing instructions. Reservations are required and space is limited.  For a copy of this year’s travel brochure, click here.

Daily Recreation
CAU offers at least one recreation event per day, almost every day of the year!  Activities range from “Feasting with Friends” trips to restaurants, bowling and movie nights, to visits to local farmer’s markets, festivals, theatre productions, art museums and more.  Activities are staffed and transportation is included from the CAU Main Office in Elizabeth to the activity and back.  Reservations are required and space may be limited.  For a copy of the current, CAYou, Recreation Brochure, click here.

The CAU Community Players
The theatre troupe was established in 2012 for individuals with disabilities to collaborate with the community and create an incredibly unique and inspiring theater experience.
