Our Services for Adults with Disabilities in New Jersey

Our services and resources for adults with disabilities assist individuals with life skills, tools for increased independence, and other needs to help them live in the community.

Academy for Continuing Education

This post-graduation learning program allows adults with disabilities to continue their studies in a wide variety of subjects and receive individual attention to develop life skills.

Advocacy

CAU has strong member-directed advocacy groups for adults with disabilities and youth at risk that empower them to understand and take action on issues affecting them.

Assistive Technology

We can help you acquire and learn to use assistive technology products that improve an individual’s functional capabilities at home or in the workplace, classroom or community.

Behavioral Management

Our licensed behaviorists work with you to create and implement a behavior modification plan and increase positive behaviors.

Community Based Supports

Community Based Supports services assist members at home and in the community with daily life activities and much more, depending on their needs.

Community Care Program

The CCP provides needed services for adult individuals age 21 and older living with their family or in various other unlicensed settings, or in licensed residential settings.

Community Inclusion

We provide opportunities throughout the year for our members to connect with others and enjoy recreation and activities.

Day Habilitation Services

Our beautiful facility in Cranford, NJ features state-of-the-art technology and the best in programming and recreational activities. Members have access to medical and behavioral supports.

Emergency Housing

We can offer temporary housing for up to eight individuals on an emergency basis. Emergency housing for youth is also available.

Employment Services

We help members reach their potential and find meaningful employment with a variety of services.

Environmental Modifications

We can assist with physical adaptations to homes to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Financial Management

Our fiscal intermediary services assist individuals and families in managing expenses.

Goods and Services

Goods & Services include unique services or supplies to help increase independence and can include classes, property maintenance, medical equipment, or activity fees for programs.

Interpretation

We provide in-person interpretation for individuals at home, work, or in the community.

Natural Supports Training

Training is available to anyone who provides uncompensated care for a person with disabilities.

Respite

Our respite program meets the needs of individuals and families to provide them relief and peace of mind.

CAU is an approved transportation provider by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).

Who is Eligible for CAU’s Adults with Disabilities Services?

Contact CAU to learn what services are appropriate for you or your loved one, and to ask about eligibility.

Adults with developmental disabilities may receive public funding for CAU services and supports to help them live as independently as possible through the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). DDD services begin at the age of 21. Contact DDD to learn more about eligibility and apply for services.
